hey everyone, super six conversion is running good but very rich, i tried to the mix down but i may have turned it up, turned them clockwise, as the advice of someone who used to have some darts, he told me to "turn them in til it starts running rough and then back them out 1/4 turn" would it running too rich make it start to idle rough? i also dont know how to adjust the metering rods, i just cant wrap my mind around it so i figure i should get someone who knows what theyre doing to tell me how, i put them back where they were when i rebuilt it, there were little indents from sitting in place for a long time, thanks !
super six is off of a 77 volare wagon

To adjust the metering rods, follow Figure two:

After setting the meterin rods you should go back and adjust your curb idle mixture. The way I do it is to turn the screws all the way in (clockwise) until they seat likghtly. Don't tighten them down or you will damage the mixture screw tips. Back the scrtews out 2 1/2 turns on each screw. Start the car and let it warm up.

With the engine idling and warm, set the idle RPM to the proper RPM (usually 750 in neutral/park) and check your base timing (make sure to disconnect and plug the vacuum advance hose). Once your RPM and timing are correct start turning each mixture scre clockwise 1/4 turn at a time until the motor starts to run rough. Then back the screws out 1/2 turn each. Now go back and double check your timing and idle speed. Repeat as necessary.
