Has anyone every tried running mushroom lifters in a slant motor? I would guess you could get some pretty fast opening rates with them which should help cylinder filling on standard rod length engines.

There is lots of room in the cam galley to do mushroom lifters, you will have to machine the backside of the lifter bores to get the needed clearance. The SL6 really likes having the valve open at full lift for as long as possible so this is worth the effort. Most of the work will be getting a nice grind on the cam its self, the lifter install should be "cake".

I actually have a block that a guy set up for VW mushroom lifters with press-in brass bushings for the lifter holes. When I move out to NC and get a garage, I might mess around with this. The VW lifters are cheap and are very large diameter - like 1.3" or so.

Cheers,

Lou

and to save weight (from the valve springs) too...

i wonder why i didnt think this before...
i actually made one aluminium pushrod from vw-mopar parts...but with tough springs its not that good idea after all...

Good thinking man!
