I was wondering if it's possible to convert a 1968 solid lifter 225 slant six to hydraulic valve lifters using the 1981 and newer head and related parts and bolting it all up to the 1968 short block. Thanks

I think you can, more info can be had in books and archives on the web. But, I would ask, Why? My understanding is that these were not that great and you realy gain nothing. If you really want it so you don't have to adjust your valves again, just swap the whole engine. They can be had cheap and it would make the swap easy and you know it would work. Only thing may be the crank pilot hole/converter hub issue.(not sure on the year change, but around 68)

I used the search function and a whole bunch of info came-up, below is a link into on message thread on this conversion, it is possible.
(try some key word searches , I used "hydraulic cam" (search for 'all') give it a try.

Thanks for the replies. I searched the archives on this site and reviewed all the info. Looks like a lot of people have the same idea. I thought that it would be a good thing to keep the 1968 engine, which I understand to be stronger than the cast crank short blocks, and just convert it to a quiet hydralic lifter setup. It looks like I'll go ahead and do it. I am looking to eventually use the Clifford Performance EFI setup and either headers or Dutra's exhaust manifolds. I would like to get as much gas mileage potential out of the six and try and up the power so that it doesn't lack power on the freeways or around town. Los Angeles can be a brutal place to drive if your car doesn't have enough power.
