We on the east side of the country have been given notice (SSRN)! Who's in for Wilkesboro on July 21st? We have had 13-17 cars over the last few years, but I'd think 20 or more is doable for a big old fashioned shootout!

I will be there with one Dart, and hopefully can convince a friend to race the other.

Race info to come soon...

See you there! :D :D

Lou

Lou my plans are to be there but Elaine has her left hip replaced on 7-12 so that is only 9 days after her surgery. My car is still apart so hopefuly I can find the time to get it back together and some test time before then. My friend Donnie will hopefully come with me and his wife has agreed to spend the weekend with my wife. Lets hope for a good turnout we need it for the east coast racers.

radarsonwheels,

The race is in North Wilkesboro, NC, so about 7-8 hours from you. Last weekend there was a race in Pittsburgh, so it's too bad you missed that one (or did you make it?). You will see some quick cars and some solid racers, and a family-like atmosphere. Come join us!

Norm, hope you and Donnie can make it and give our very best to Elaine.

Lou

Unfortunately, I'm in between slants right now. I had to take the 65 off the road, and the 68 isn't going to be done in time.
Unless I can run my 65 V8 car as an honorary slant, I've got nothing to drive!
The 68 should be done for Piedmont, though, and it's an automatic, so maybe I'll have a chance at some good lights.

The Slant Six race in Wilkesboro, N.C. is almost here (Saturday 7/21). Little Thunder Valley as it has been called. Those Slants really sound off in between the hills at Wilkesboro Raceway Park. This is the best attended event for eastern slant six racers in recent years. Owner Danny Dunn is looking forward to having us again! Tim Harrold of Empire Chrysler Dodge Jeep has stepped up with a big purse for us again! I spoke with Tim today and he wants all race cars / street race cars to come over to the dealership Saturday morning for a mass gathering and photo shoot. We will leave there later in the day and head to the strip. Gates will open at 5:00 and racing starts at 7:00. Dust off those cars and bring them out. A good time is guaranteed!

I love going to Wilkesborro. At that track, Danny and his people go out of their way to accomadate the slants. Empire Chrys really supports the slant race, also. This year I have a car ready to race, but the finances just will not permit that long a trip for me.

I really enjoyed N. Wilksboro 2 years ago, and the prize money is very nice. It was a long drive with the whole family, but I would come alone this year.

I will check in again a little closer to race date, but I have a really good shot at making the trip. One issue will be that if I sell the Aspen, I won't have a car to make the trip in, but I haven't seen much interest so far. I'm taking the car to Carlisle to try and sell, so that's when I'll know.

Another issue would be a place to stay. Anyone got a CHEAP spot (on the floor?) for Friday and Saturday night? I'm getting too old to make all that driving without a good nights rest in between.

The last time I was up there, the TnT was Thur night. I did a Wed TnT at my local track, went to WRP for the Thur TnT, and Sat Show at Empire Chrys, and Sat night race. The Thur nite TnT got rained out. Danny let me stay at the track from Thur afternoon, till Sunday morning.

Just talked with Danny and there will be test and tune Friday night. The gate open at 6:00. On Saturday the gate opens at 4:00 not 6:00. I was wrong on the other post. He is going to have wheelstanders on the program Saturday night so we should have a lot of spectators to put on a show for. Bring on those slants and lets put some of those V8's bracket racers back on the trailor too. Remember entry is free in Slant Six just enter your respective bracket class.
Thanks

Lou, the plan for Greg and I is to run in Michigan that weekend. But that is not set in stone. I will be racing somewhere. I will let you guys know what I decide.

OK, Brian. That's really too bad Martin, MI is the same wkend as Wilkesboro. Not good to break up the racers on this side of the country.

If you guys decide to come to Wilkesboro, we'll have a big crowd and guaranteed fun. You guys are welcome to share a room with me on Friday night and/or Sat night - no charge.

Most likely, I'll bring the 64 Dart, which should be pretty close to Greg's car at the moment...

Lou, I am planning on going to the martin Michigan Chrysler classic.
I want to Get up to the chrysler muesem too - So I plan to do that as well. I will have to look into the North Wilkeboro race in future years as I know it will be around a while.

It is defiently a big treat from Empire Dode and Danny Dunn, and all they do for the slanters - I will have to try and make it down next year.

I have no Idea what the car count Will be up at Martin, so I thought I would go there To boost it, and possibly meet some folks, No offense, But I have seen most of the people and folks that will be at The wilkesboro race.

Best of luck, and I will take you for a ride someday when we meet up again.

Greg
