I called two local GM Dealers re: EOS #1052367. They have some, but both said $9.29 a pint(16oz) GM PARTS DIRECT .com said it was discontinued. The AC Delco # is 10-106,but I have not found a source.
I'm too frugal to enjoy spending $10. for a pint, but I may have to! Also, I returned CJ-4 Rotella and bought SM Castrol 20W-50,(which has more zinc &phos. and less detergents than Rotella.) I've been studting this EOS subject for about two weeks. Did I choose the right oil and other sources for GM EOS? Dan and others, what do you think? THANKS!!

So how does the new Delo 400 in 15W-40 compare when it comes to ZDP?

10-106 should be available via dealer order. Seems the long-form GM number for 10-106 is 12371532, though that number doesn't come up under gmpartsdirect. I'm afraid I'm not up on the relative ZDDP content of Castrol and Rotella and Delo.

I've not had trouble getting EOS yet, but I still have some from the last time I ordered 12 pints. Is this possibly getting hard to find because of emission laws in certain areas, or nationwide? You cannot get GM top engine cleaner in California anymore. I tried to get it shipped in from Texas and they caught it and said no. I picked up a stash in Washington last summer. It is not the same as it used to be but still works OK.

I would hope EOS is still available as I have been using it for several years now. It has been the best alternative for EP additives. It did not cost that much either, even last year. Diesel oil really is for Diesels, the detergent package will form deposits on plugs fairly quickly and eventually on the intake valves. It's not so bad with a fresh engine, but can be pretty bad with one that does not have good oil control. It is easy for a cam manufacturer to recommend it since these are not their problems.

I'm in Florida, and hve been getting it from my local Chevy dealer. Did not know it was available from AC/Delco. Just ordered some yesterday, from my Delco distributer, came in today, about $2.50 a pint less then the dealer.

Why can't you run this.

Crane Cams Super Lube Break-In Concentrate (8 oz. bottle) is an anti-wear additive formulated with a high concentration of special zinc dithiophosphate to provide sustained protection against cam lobe and lifter scuffing and wear. This oil supplement is to be added to the engine oil for the initial break-in period after the installation of a new camshaft and lifters.

The Crane stuff is probably good, too. I haven't done any looking at exactly what's in it and how cost-effective it is or isn't.
