Hello,just looking at the CHI head and wondering why they call it a hemi ? inline valves with a non cross flow head does'nt sound very hemi to me . any ideas? was the original head actually hemi ? CHI has a nice head never the less .... Thanks....Dee

The Hemi 6's combustion chambers comprise about 35% of the top of the globe. This creates what is known as a "low hemispherical" shaped chamber. Although the Hemi-6 does not contain truly hemispherical combustion chambers, the "Hemi" moniker was used primarily for its marketing cachet based on the reputation of Chrysler's 1950s-1970s (true) Hemi V8 engines.

The same is true of today's "Hemi." The valves are arranged in a plane 90* to the crank axis as in the original Hemi but the flanks of the chamber are squshed in such that they resemble half of a donut mare than half of a sphere. The flow capacity is high, as in a hemi, but the revised chamber aids in controlling detonation and emissions. The "Hemi" moniker is a marketing ploy to evoke the glory days of the 426 Street hemi. In truth, the new ones are lighter and more efficient than the original. Chrysler was on the way to abandoning the true Hemi by the late 60s anyway but the oil crisis of the early 70s and rising insurance premiums sounded the death knell of most street performance engines by about '75 anyway. The current fuel crisis threatens to do the same now. The new frontier of performance is really in Deisel engines now anyway.
