Did any of the "A" body cars in America have a foot operated windscreen wiper pumps? Some of the early valiants ( equivalant to your "A" body cars )( pre 1967 ) in Australia had these type of pumps and they are no longer available.I am in the middle of a restoration project and want to replace the original with an authentic one not an electrical. If anyone knows where I could buy one can they please post an email address of the store or the postal address where I can place an order.

Looking forward to any replies

Alan K

They were very common on UD built A-body cars. I can't say where i saw them, but I've seen them advertised within the past few months. I'm planning to go to an electric pump on my 62 so I didn't pay a lot of attention at the time.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.

The Tidewater Mopar Club restored a 1965 Barracuda some years back, and the electric windshield waster pump was inside a metal box under the hood. It didn't work, so I took it apart and found it quite easy to fix; gave it new coat of paint and it looked and worked like new.

Many of the older models use parts that can be taken apart and repaired if you're patient; I wrote an article on it you can find at http://www.tidewatermoparclub.com/TECH/ ... icable.pdf

Thanks for the cmments.Interesting to here that they were quite common.KBB I will try restoring the old unit but I don't hold much hope because the rubber casing is perished. If anyone knows or hears of a parts store selling them can you please post the details in this forum. Thanks for your replies.

Try wildcatmopars.com they are in Sandy Oregon. I think a guy named Randy is in charge. Lots of good used parts. Last one I've seen was in a 70 Dodge Dart. Don't know what year they quit using them.
