Cecil,

What an amazing coincidence! I had to make brackets because someone had cut off the lower part of the throttle bracket on my 4160! I didn't even know what it was supposed to have since I had never owned a 4 bbl Holley and after scratching my head as to what must have to happen when I was pondering hookup, I looked at some web pics and saw the problem. I used a Dremel tool to cut and shape a stainless steel part to bolt on the stub, drilled, tapped and threaded the stub and bolted on the close approximation of the missing part. I did what the BPE pics showed in the sense of being sure my part allowed an arc of 1 to 1.5 inches pull on the cable. Works perfectly.

Wish I was as smart as Chaarlie! A bike brake cable is a great idea and would work well here in NC too.!

The end of the lokar cable isn't sealed, not against the inner cable at least. Do they make bike cables long enough to go from the carb and loop back at the tailshaft?

The folks you were talking to Cecil were likely thinking of the original, rigid linkage that didn't use a cable but metal rods. Or maybe the throttle, because when you press the pedal down the pedal mechanism reverses the direction and pulls the cable towards the back of the car.
