It looks like the 2.2L pistons are the way to go with my turbo project - along with the use of 225 rods - not 198 rods, as the 198 rods are too long (I had the difference between the two wrong). The block or head will be milled to get the comp. ratio where I need it.

Anyway, we don't have the 2.2L motors in Aus. so the pistons will need to be sourced from the US. Can anyone suggest a company from which I could buy these pistons?

Also any comments on the best make to choose would be much appreciated. I have found a flat top, forged item but can't identify the make.

Thanks,

Brad

Brad, I bought my Keith Black KB268 pistons from these folks. They broke a set (they come in sets of "4") to give me 6 and rebalanced them for me. Ask for Tim, really great people to deal with. I bought the 1mm oversize. If my memory is correct, the 0.5mm oversize are beginning to get scarce.

Hope this helps,

Gilly

Yikes!!! That is an obscene amount of milling, as the block and heads would need to be milled a total of 0.165" to bring compression up to stock. I'm not sure I would want to try to take that much off the head and block.

Don't worry Matt, you can go -.100" on both the head and block pretty easily. I know some guys who have taken .140" off the block without trouble. Later! Dennis

I don't actually want to take the compression back to stock - I was looking at around 7.5:1. Around 0.050" - 0.100" or so off the block, coupled with a small chamber head we have over here should do it, if I'm using the dished (18cc) pistons.

The small chamber head that we have is around 48cc, compared to the 56cc I measured on a standard head. I came fitted on our Pacers (sports packs) which ran a 9.2:1 slant.

Does anyone know who manufactures the forged flat top 2.2L pistons? If I can use these I can get away with less off the block.

At last check there were still some TRW / Speed Pro forged pistons (flat top)in the standard size. (3.445)
Sealed Power / Federal Mogel distributors can run a check for current remaining stock.
