A 6 will not bolt up to a v8 trans because of the position of the starter The 6 is high the 8 is on the bottom. You might not have to change the K member on these cars but if you do there are plenty of them out there .The 6 cyl parts don't really have much value to most builders putting us at a great advantage. An A body K will not work .You need to look at a Hollandars Interchange Book to find the info you need unless someone here or elsewhere knows and will share it.I'm an early A body guy but I do have an Aspen.Which 6 cyl are you going to use and what is your goal? If it's milage get a 170 A properly tuned 318 will do almost as good as a 225 on gas if you drive it right. I had a 318 in a 65 Barracuda with a 4 speed behind it .It was bone stock 2bbl single exhaust and it got about 18 mpg My 6 cyl 65 Barracuda 4 speed got about 20 mpg also bone stock 1bbl carb single exhaust. I hope this helps.

Andy, where are you located? I have a complete 78 Volare 6 cyl "k"-member. It is completed with suspension and brakes. Are you close enough to make it feasable to get it? Yes you will have to use a six cyl trans.

Andy, I could keep an eye out for a F body slant K member. You might want to check with Slantzilla, he seems to find all of the good deals around here....people come to him with slants and parts.

A couple of ideas here.... theres a guy over on moparstyle that has an 80 aspen wanting to do the opposite swap... trade K frames or even cars?
also where in IL are you? I know where there is a /6 F body K frame that was sandblasted, primed, and set in a corner.... the guy that has it, had an Oliver tractor that had plans of putting a 225 in it but sold the tractor before he got to it....its a bare K, though, no control arms, torsion bars, etc. You can reuse the ones that you have now with the V8 though.

that car is more of a project then i can do right now, so im going to have to pass on it unfortunately, theres a nice 78 with a 318 a few hours away from home, but its going to go for more then i have im pretty sure, i picked up a caliper from the junkyard this weekend for my school car, a family friend keeps trying to talk me into a corvair, he has an extra he has talked about giving to me, if he gets the title i may have to take him up on it, its not a chrysler, but its something kind of different, something old and easier to work on, and cheap, so, well see, let me know if you run across something slant powered in the IL/IN area, even western ohio or eastern iowa, thanks guys!

This has been proven to be a load of BS, but people still believe it.....The cars aren't unsafe, they're just Chevys, and there for suck.....
