Does anybody have any success/horror stories using nitrous oxide in their slant six? Since I'm under the impression that the slant six has absolutely brutal intake manifold vacuum I'm guessing NOS is probably the way to go..

What do you mean by "brutal intake manifold vacuum" ??? And how/why would that make NOS the way to go ???

As for using NOS, ask Slantzilla, he's "been there, done that".

Or you can run it with a 4 BBL:



You can even run NOS with a turbo:



But what ever you do... don't run it low on fuel pressure!

I have two cars, ruinning NOS. 66 Cuda with a "fogger", and a 66 Valiant with a plate. I have had good results, and bad results. One engine had over 400 lbs of nitrous thru it with no problems. Other times I have had problems with hurting pistons, when I have gotten greedy.

One thing I can tell you that you will need for sure is a good fuel pressure regulator and gauge. I took out my first piston due to an inaccurate gauge. It said I had 6 pounds of fuel pressure when in fact I only had 4.

Second time I had a bad fitting on the plate that sent the motor way over rich on fuel and got another piston top ring land.

Rich on fuel is just as bad as rich on nitrous, it just kills the piston in a different way.

Manifold vacuum is a moot point with the hose. It goes into the intake at 900 psi or so, and kinda goes wherever it wants to.

How does that work? I can see dumping enough liquid into a cylinder to hydro-lock it and break a ring land or a piston... is that what happens?

The best description I ever heard of what happens when you go lean while running N2O is, "N2O is an oxidizer. It burns things. In an engine under compression, it FINDS things to burn. If it can't find enough fuel, well, aluminum burns just fine."

What happens is excess fuel gathers in the top ring land and ignites. That pushes the top ring land up. After enough times the land will break off and things go downhill from there.
