Did you sew the edges yourself?

1A auto on ebay sells the ACC carpets. They are made to order if you get a odd color but it only takes a couple of days. They dyed up one in fawnskin for my 65 Dart and it was perfect in fit and color. Colors from other shops usually cost more.

I have used ACC carpets in quite a few cars, they seem to be about the best and are what you would likely get from any of the better restoration sources.

As for the carpet, I got it at a local upholstery shop from a roll they had in the back (and they don't have it anymore either as I found out when I made some matching floor mats). The carpet for the floor mats was something I found on the internet. (they'll send you samples, so I was able to match what I had)


No sewing. I laid the carpet in sections and glued it down. Edges that aren't seen (under seats, under carpet, under sills) was just melted with a butane lighter so it wouldn't unravel.

The one section that is seen (front by the tranny hump), I melted the edge, then folded it back on itself about a 1/2" and contact cemented it and clamped it between 2x4s until it dryed. It gave a nice straight line (as compared to the melted unseen edges) and reinforced the edge as well. So the seam is visible, but pretty neat.

Hey Ed, how did you make the folds in the corners stay neat. Are they glued down with something?

The carpet pad is contact cemented to the floor, the carpet contact cemented to the pad.

Did it slowly, a section at a time......... with lots of weight, let dry, more glue.......

Well, you did a great job. My next step is local Upolstery shops and carpet outlets.

I really think I'm going to have to do what you did with this 4-speed hump issue.
