Well last night I was hooking up a few more wires in the engine compartment and decided to reinstall the cluster and give it a try. After struggling to get the main (round) wiring harness, which I never got in fully, I went and put in my fuse and hooked up the battery. I was nervous and was listening carefully for any snapping, sparking, or hissing sounds. When I went to go get my keys I turned and saw a light on, it was my dome light! I now have my headlights (w/ highs), turn signals, DASH LIGHTS, the hazzards work right, and the horn. I was so pumped. Its been a long process but well worth it.

Ok so now with the questions. When I put the turn signal to the left it was fine but on the right side the backup light blinked instead. What could be causing this? A bad ground, backwards wires, bad bulbs, or something else?

Second, while hooking up the coil I noticed the ground is going to the distributor, is that right? I looked in my FSM and it shows it going there but not in detail. I didn't want to pop the distributor cap off cause, well I never had before and didn't want to open a can of worms before the great reveal. So can I just pop the disttributor cap off and put a new ground wire on without disturbing the timing? I know you're probably shaking your head thinking this guy is stupid, but bear with me this is my first hands-on car.

Third, I went to hook up a ground wire to the alt and thought there was a ground screw but where it says GRD there isn't any screw just a hole without threads. So can I just screw the ground to another screw to the body of the alt?

And lastly I found the ground that goes from the engine to the firewall. They have it down between the carb and firewall, I dont know where its connected yet. Would it be better to hook it to the same place the battery is grounded to the engine?

As always, thanks for everyone's help. -Dan
