Don, that is one cool project. :D :D :D

I always wondered how motorcycle/snowmobile cars would work. :D

I always had too. It took a bit of fidling but once I got the hang if it it surprised me how easy itcame together. I am consumed with this slant six thing now. I find myself wondering what the upper limit of power might be. Theoretically it should be doable to get 500 hp if the head can make 220 cfm. I never had the head on my flow bench and now it has (my flow bench)been sold so I dont currently have that option.
I think this engine I have could make at least 260 hp and not more than 300with all perfect but I wonder if i can get my thinking in line with the engine design what I can get. It would be fun to run down the big rear engine chevy dragsters heads up with a slant six. I would live for that day! Maybe i am just dreaming but the idea appeals to me.I think I could currently get one to make 375 HP with a cam change and a roller grind. I have a 5.7 hemi sitting in my shop that was to be my next project but I think it may never get done. This thing is too interesting to me.
Anyway thanks for the encouragement. All of you.
Don

Sounds great, Don. 220 CFM has been done and the record is around 375 HP for a weber 6X1 NA motor with flat tappet cam.

275 HP is not so hard, and would put you somewhere in the high 6s in the 1/8th at 1500lbs raceweight, or high 10s in the 1/4.

Sounds like you are somewhere around 200-260 HP now.

375 HP would be mid-high 9s in the 1/4 and I bet a very scary ride in that car...

Good. I had caculated around 253 using my program and it was always pretty accute .( We could paper plan an combo within 2 /10 in the 1/4)
220 will supply enough air fuel for great power so the planning begins. That big stroke which is nice for torque becomes an obstacle as RPM goes up. Regaedlesss I am hooked.
9s would be scary but not if I close my eyes!
Anyway The new slicks will be here and on today. I am hoping for a solid run with decent traction next rrip and will see what that brings. i will have a better idea then with the tires not spinning and a hard launch. Anything in the 7s (1/8th)would make me happy and i can go from there. Rome wasnt built in a day.
Who did the 375 and is there an article on it.?

He is low profile and lives in Australia. Been a few Slant Six Racing News articles on his cars, but not recently.

Baby now has new shoes. 10.5 29.5 x 15 MTs. Looks better too.
Screwed them to the rims, a job i havent done in about 15 years.
Had to ask the shop twice tobalance them . They didnt think race tires needed balance. It is a good thing too. One tire was out 10 ounces in total. The other 6 1/4. They dont make stuff like they used to. Back in the day they would have been blems. $630 seemed like a lot so hopefully i can get a few years racing out of them. I have trouble getting my butt to the track. I guess I am more builder than driver and would just as soon watch it go as drive it . With a completely hand built car though I feel a responsibilty to do it myself lest there be any problems. After I get a few runs on without any hitches I will feel better about giving up the drivers seat .

Took the senior dragster to Shannonville Nostalgia race. First warm up pass was ok but not the best as I had had the car in a parde the previous weekend. I screwed in a fresh set of plugs. Car ran great. 8.41 at 81 .something. New tires stopped the tire spin completley but now I need a converter so it was almost zero gain. I did however run a .502 light which had my firends (both of them ;>) stunned in disbelief. In a door car I am real bad with reaction times of over 1 sec however in the rail I am looking the last yellow right in the eye and it seems easy to leave on it. Wish I knew this 40 years ago. (first raced july 1966 and stilll have the time cards) Over the winter i will give this engine a race cam (mild street in it now) and see MR Lupo for a serious converter. I am used to the car now so it s time to get more violent. First race was against another FED but a long one with a BB chevy. Still we had fun doing our burnouts and staging like it would have been 30 or 40 years ago. A friend took a pic .
Also got a video he took of the second run against a 66 Fairlane. It wqas a fun wekend. time to drain the water and store it for winter.

The Sr Dragster made it onto GearzTelevision first show of the new season (Knuckle buster episode.) It was at the very end of the show on the "what are you workin on?" segment. He pronounced my name wrong but that is normal (Duelmawshe instead of Dull- may-ge) He spent a lot of the time showing off the beautiful Blue denim seat upholstery my wife made for the car. It scored huge points with her. I thought it was great. In a couple of weeks I start working on it again. I am changing the cam and freshening the trans since it is just good used and nothing has been done to it. I felt a little flare on my last run so i would be crazy not to take care of it.

Today I received a new cam and lifters. I had it custom made to my specs. I had an idea of something i wished to try. The cam is a relatively short duration but high velocity lifter rate. Lift is above .540 , both intake and exhaust. This cam is a hydraulic grind. I also had it nitrided for extra protection. It was very expensive but if it works it will be worth it. I want good power but I want it below 6500 RPM. I also need good torque. I will know soon enough whether my thinking was right or not. Either way I will learn something and for me that always has value.
