I currently have no turn signals working in my car. 73 scamp. So I figure the turn signal relay is messed up. However, when I put on the emergency flashers, the left blinker starts working. I am totally confused. I think its two separate problems. Any thoughts?

Have you tried and observed what happens when you move the turn signal switch up or down with the flashers on? If nothing happens, then I would go with Dan's suggestion.

there are two flashers in your car; one for emergency four-way, the other for turn signal. their location varies; for mine the turn signal flasher is clipped to the outside of the glovebox liner and the four-way is clipped to the steering column support. it is a good idea to replace any bimetallic flasher (with a tin or light blue plastic casing) with the HD-12 electronic flasher.
begin by replacing the turn signal flasher. next inspect your turn signal bulbs. ensure the filaments are intact and the sockets are clean, use a battery brush to remove scale and coat the new bulb base with dielectric grease. if this still does not solve the problem, you need to get out your multimeter and check the continuity of the switch as well as +12V present at the switch feed wiring and the flasher. since the switch is the most difficult and expensive item to replace in the circuit, i would investigate all other possibilities first.

Don't forget to check the muffler bearing at the same time you check the blinker fluid. They go hand in hand don't you know.....

I got the K-mart Blue light special blinker fluid. Almost as good as the purple and half the price. I also got a flux capacitor on the cheap as well.

I had a bulb that wouldn't blink, so I got a new one, and BLINK!
You got a pretty sweet deal there! Im supposedly getting a Mr.Fusion, but its on back order as well.

often on 73 models the piston return spring goes bad too .

I may be off here but I know I posted a similar question. My blinkers worked fine but when I would turn on my flashers they wouldn't work unless I turned my left or right blinker on. I thought it had to do with a switch but after I was done rewiring my car everything worked as it should. Like I said, I may be off or completely wrong or both.

By the way, was the flux capacitor from napa? Because the others normally always send you back to the future -Dan
