My "new" 66 Dart 270 SW has NO fuel gauge reading when full. Then when it has about 1/4 tank VOLIA it starts going up, it will go up to about 1/3 tank then it starts towards empty again.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Frank

I would take the sender out and clean it.
If the car sat for a long time, the old gas forms varnish on everything.
My guess is that the 1/4 - 1/3 area is the only place it's making contact through the sconge.
Make sure the sender gets a good ground when you put it back in.

And make sure the float doesn't have any holes in it.

sometimes the foam float arms can get holes in them and swell up causing the arm to not float properly. I'de drop the tank and check the arm. make sure its still pretty light. if its got more weight than it should ide replace it.
