Shoudl I return for a different pump? I know ACDelco is a GM company, who has the best waterpump..dont wanna be taking it apart again next spring. thanks alot

The local farm store used to carry all AC Delco products; fuel pumps oil filters waterpumps etc and back THEN they were a decent product; nowadays its probably "reboxed" Cardone; reman garbage.

ACDelco was renamed to "Delphi" a little while back, at least for actual GM parts and various other accessories they make now. I haven't had any issues with ACDelco or Delphi parts in anything I work on.

You still need to check where the part was made. AC Delco is outsourcing some of their manufacturing to China. This fact was brought up at a AC Delco seminar, I attended last year. Also AC Delco has sold the rights to their name to other companies, for certain products, and has relinquested control, of the product (flashlight batteries, for one).

The water pump came today.

ACDelco Brand

MADE IN CHINA (shocker..)

I also ordered a felpro gasket for the waterpump, The gasket with the ACDelco is much thicker around the edges. (wider area is covered)

Should i send this pump back to the guys at rockauto?

What pump is most dependable to use?>

THANKS!!!!

Good luck finding one not made in China, no matter whose name is on the box.

Nope. Gates doesn't make water pumps, and never has. Neither does AC-Delco. They buy them — almost entirely from China and similar countries — and box and sell them.

They make excellent belts and hoses. They do not make water pumps, thermostats, or any of the other non-belt-non-hose stuff they sell.

I don't know; never been much of a "napa fan" but I know that Gates is who supplies Car Quest.
but lately, I've replaced all the hoses on my D 250, and (2) Wranglers and wound up going with Dayco products; I've used both brands interchangably over the years with good results.
but the Goodyears sold by Useless Zone have not held up as well for me; especially bypass hoses on smallblocks; the uppers/lowers don't seem to be "as bad" as the bypass hoses, or their molded curved heater hoses, which are also a "last resort" buy in that brand.
when OE ones last upwards of 10 yars and were replaced as a matter of maintenannce, rather than because of an actual problem, the replacements blow in 1-1/2 years, leaving you on the side of the road.

I had to quit trying to like Dayco's "Top Cog" belts.
