I've been hella busy lately but would like to "wet your whistle". For those who want go out and build a new motor using the k1/wieand kit I have been talking to a new manufacture about the need for some "other"parts for our cylinder head. And like the rod/pis. kit these will be a stock drop replacement in a rebuild application or a custom set up based on the response below. I say this because the there will be a kit and it wont work with a bunch of different length push rods. It will need to be based on STOCK geometry of a slant six for ease of use. I mean that as head and block only to receive a clean up "decking".

What intake valves for a performance slant build are used the most?
sbc 1.72/1.50?
sbf ????? don't know their size.
engine builder valves (os fat stemmed)????
ferrara ford 2300 1.76/1.50?

I belive the first to be the popular one(I used them). Please let me know.

Is nobody doing the Ford 300 big valve conversion any more?

What are you offering that doesn't already exist? Engnbldr valves are drop-in except for the head diameter. The Ford 240/300 valves are the correct length, but have smaller stems and require guides, seals, retainers and locks to be changed. This is also true of any other valves which do not have 3/8" stems an stock style keeper grooves. The valve springs and retainers are the same as small block Chrysler engines so there is no shortage there.

Decking the block or head does not change the valve train geometry with a shaft rocker system as the rocker pivot is fixed in relation to the valve stem. With ball-and-stud rockers the pushrod length affects valve train geometry as the rocker pivot point moves and changes the rocker to valve relationship.

But taking .100 off the head and block will mess with geometry. Also in running a valve length longer than stock like a small block sheevy valve thats .140 longer would also.

So now thats clarified what would be the most poplar valves for a performance build. You say 240/300 frog six is it? Any others? I just don't see any 3/8 stem valve a performer. 11/32 wont choke a port that badly. But this is why I am asking.

btw Josh your reading to much into it. I could can pull the plug this and all but everyone seems happy with what I did on the rods/pistions. So please everyone just work with me on this.

Everyone wants something cool and I'm looking out and working for us thats all.

Not true. The three points that define the rocker geometry are the valve stem to rocker contact point, the adjusting screw to pushrod pivot point and the rocker's pivot point.

Now you're changing the geometry.

Is the geometry issue clear to you now?

3/8" stem valves makes preparing a head less expensive if you don't need killer springs, retainers and locks. Ford 300 valves are a bit too large in diameter if you ask me. I had my Ford exhaust valves cut down to 1.45" when that head was done about 10 years ago. The last head I did got 3/8" stem Engnbldr valves as is the head I'm working on now.

You still didn't answer the question. What are you offering that doesn't exist now? Good rods at a reasonable price didn't exist previously and you got the cost of pistons down if that particular piston meets one's needs. Folks do appreciate the effort, but I don't know where you're going on this one.

Ferrea already offers a drop in large diameter stock length valve. I have them in my race head Mike did.

I forgot how everyone knows everything here  . Forget it I'm pulling the plug on it. A simple question of "Whats the popular valve used in a performance build up?" and "based on the response" to that question. :x

If there was no need no loss but..................

Well, you questions were vague.... I still don't know what you were planning. ENGRBLDER makes valves that suit the slant, that an the Erson cam are probably the two most common performance parts I know of. The offy and other 4 barrel stuff too I guess.
Roller rockers are really not needed for 90% of slant builds. Pistons could be better, but are being taken care of by Wiesco. I would like to see some hyper's that were cheaper, but so is life. Rods are dealt with, manifolds, even windage trays are available.
So really we have some nice performance stuff available, not as much as the sbc, but we have a pretty good list. If you want to see what would be popular, just ask a simple question and see what you get.

I believe they are 1.44 / 1.70. That part is simple, and they are already available at a fair price.

"What intake valves for a performance slant build are used the most?" really??.... READ THE POST! how simple of a question is that?????????????

Almost, and I said "almost", everyone here has a chip on their shoulder and knows more than everyone else. And everyone over examine any small question into the meaning of life! I expected simple answers like 240/300 ford six, engine builder, sbc etc, etc. instead I get the whole "What are you talking about?" or "What could you know we don't!" bit. Trust me I have learned my lesson on wether to ask for advice here to help bring parts to people.

Forget it, no sense in rocking the boat take it easy and later dude's....... :?

I did read the post, you had specs on the two sets of valves. It would take 30 seconds to find EngrBldr valves on e-bay. You didn't ask for sizes you asked for opinions of "What intake valves for a performance slant build are used the most".

What was the whole thread about? You can look up valves sizes with the search function. You had to learn about valve geometry which is fine, I have the popular rodding article bookmarked just never read it. So what is this really all about?
This wasn't turned into the meaning of life, I just wrote a term paper on that, and it had nothing to do with slant six valves... Don't leave hurt, we are too close of a community for something as small as this.
