It would seem that a V6 would be more practical. I believe that Ford even used the 2.8 in some models of the station wagon. The 3.8 litters the junk yards now and is designed for RWD.

Use the Cologne V6 from the early 70s Capri. Should be lots of euro tuning items available. Four liter available stock in later versions.

The Cologne Is poorly designed. 2.8,2.9, and the 4.0L found in Ford Exploders. Not suitable for boost, Poor Oiling system... A4LD Auto Trans is a Flaming Boat Anchor The fastest being the Merkur Scorpio and that loses bad to the Turbo 4 Version. I have a Bronco 2 that I built the 2.9 basically as Bada$$ as they get but its still marginal at best and Flat lifters are common. You can swap a C-4 in with the right parts but, the engine is still Crappy. 5 speeds are more fun but Auto's win more Races due to the possibility of "driver Error" as well as clutches dying and misc. other crap. Who said anything about practical? I want original practical would be cannabilizing a Turbo Coupe or swapping in a 5.0. I've had fast cars : 78 Nova 13.2 1/4 mile with a Honda Killing 150mph top speed fun on the freeway downshifting to 2nd at 80mph was a shocker for unsuspecting Rice boyz, 74 Charger 2 seats and a shifter with 4.11s and a 10:1 383 292/509 Purple Cam, My drunk brother "borrowed" it and made it 50ft out of the driveway before hitting a Tree, 84 Trans Am 350 5speed Headers, Cam, 2.02 heads 3.54 posi Fun as hell...and the list goes on All Built not bought I have gone practical. I want to prove the SL6 to a few Boneheads that laughed at me. Being original is part of my nature having something everyone else has isn't my Forte ( cant do the lil accent mark) but you get my drift.
