I have a '71 dart 2-door that's in paint right now, and my door handles are in sad shape...chrome flaking off and rust on them. I talked to 1 chromer place and they said they don't re-chrome those because the "casted metal doesn't adhere to chrome that well, just get new ones"

I've never heard of this before, and I know a lot of people in the auto industry have some weird theorys, so i'm working if you guys can confirm or deny this? If so, what's a good source to get new ones?

It does take special skill and experience to plate potmetal successfully. Some shops specialise in it. Pick up a copy of Hemmings Motor News and start shopping. Expect to pay for quality plating! You may think it easier to just get new handles, but watch out for the problem I'm encountering.
