So found out I can get 4.11 diff gears (or it was 4.55 not entirely sure). for around $300 and I was told that i can just swap them straight into what i already have.

I have a 1967 VC Val and it's stock as far as the diff is concerned. can I just swap this new ring and pinion in?

And the other big question is

Is this still street able? Or will I find it to jerky and bad with acceleration...?

Thanks a lot I am still pretty new to this stuff!

4.11 will not be fun for road speeds due to higher engine RPM's, 4.55's much worse.
What size (type) of rear axle housing?

Only if you have an automatic or 3 speed...it isn't bad if you are using an overdrive transmission... :wink:

Ok, Sorry massive newbie at this.

So I think I've got this right;

Is it the engine rotates 4.11 times every wheel revolution?
Meaning Higher RPM and more acceleration.

However a lower gear means better top end (Not exactly sure what this means) and slower acceleration but higher speed?

So then having a higher ratio (for a streeter car) will mean I have a higher RPM all of the time?

Yes, the number of engine RPM's to wheel RPM's are what the numbers indicate. The closer you get to 1 to 1 the more it is like starting out like you had a stick shift and left it in high gear.
