Gentlemen: My w-200, '68, 1bbl carter, manual choke.

Kindly refer me to best rebuilder/vendor for a replacement. I am on east coast but assume the better ones are on the other side. Does NAPA sell them? And a fuel pump will most like need replacement since my truck has been in storage for a couple of years . Won't start when I treid.

Thanks all

"Remanufactured" or off-the-shelf "rebuilt" carburetors are junk, see here. If your carburetor is in basically sound condition and is just glopped up with years of gunk, then a teardown and rebuild with a quality rebuild kit such as the ones Daytona Parts sells may get the job done. Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download.

If there's wear and tear on the hard parts—slop/wear at the throttle shaft bushing areas, warped castings, broken or missing parts, etc.—then more extensive reconditioning would be called for to get your carb back into shape. Expect to pay for it; the difference between $150 to $200 worth of "remanufactured" junk and $250 to $300 worth of refurbishing work is that the latter is done by a skilled, knowledgeable craftsman. Reputable such craftsman include The Old Carb Doctor, 1-800-945-CARB (he's in Georgia, I believe) and Buzzard Carburetor.

I have a new old stock (new, never installed) manual-choke Carter BBS for your truck. It has some ugly but inconsequential surface corrosion on the choke plate from years of sitting, and like any NOS carburetor would want a rebuild kit put in it before installation so as to have fresh gaskets and seals made with today's gasoline formulations in mind. Send me a PM on here if you are interested.

All slant-6 fuel pumps are interchangeable. Tougher these days than ever before to find a quality item, a lot of them are Chinese junk. I have no problem with Mexican or Korean-made fuel pumps, but the Chinese ones are a fire waiting (sometimes not waiting very long) to happen. Try for a reputable name brand like Airtex or Carter, and carefully inspect the pump before installing it.
