I have seen many people ask about where to lift their engines when pulling them out. One of the neat things I kept off the tug is this factory lifting bracket. It bolts right to the two bolts on top of the head and held the engine at the perfect angle for removal. It has a second hole to the rear which I am guessing would be for lifting the engine and tranny as a unit.(Although I have not tried this.) I would be glad to make a pattern for anyone that wants one. Then you could make your own. I would guess it could be made out of 1/2" aluminum instead of steel if you wanted.

I do have a small country metal shop that I deal with here locally. If there was enough interest, I could check and see what it would cost to make some of these up. This would have to wait until after the Mason Dixon race next month for sure. But if there is interest I will check on some pricing.

DadTruck made one out of 3 inch angle iron that works very good. That one is in true slant form - over engineered. :shock: Thanks for the pattern offer that may help some folks out.

Did ya have a chance to drive that thing around the neighborhood before ya scraped her? :D

I have one that AndyF made...already pulled a few engines with it...and only 1/4 the size...

I think I'd ask for the upward angle to be closer to the head and mouting points, so that weight and gravity don't put an angular force on the head of the bolts already in tension...

Here's a thread from awhile back.The bracket I use is designed for vans but if'n I had an A body with a slant I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try.

These Little Factory Lifting Brackets are cool & all but I really dont see why they are needed.... when You can just take 2 bolts that go into attatching the bracket to the head and just put your chain on there and lit the engine... Worked fine for me.

Ditto. Bolts and chain here too. I can hook the chain short enough to get the motor out of the red car without removing the hood. :D
