I think there's a pretty good chance it will with some reasonably priced aftermarket parts. Gears, axles, and maybe a housing brace welded in. Sounds extreme, but it's a lot less modifications than the ford 9" guys routinely do to get theirs to hold up to lot of power. You can easily build a 9" ford with no ford parts, and there's a reason for that. I'd advise you to look around on some of the turbo buick boards, since they are the ones that overwhelmingly use that particular rearend. Turbobuick.com is one, and there's another that sounds just like that but is slightly different.
