Good day gentlemen, I am visiting your board from the P-15 D-24 site I commonly haunt, as I have some questions regarding what I believe is a Carter BBS carburetor. I purchased a used dual carb set up on a fenton manifold. This set up came with the carbs, and will be mounted on my 46 Plymouth flathead 6 along with an Edmunds Finned aluminum head. I have been told by a NAPA counter man that the carbs are 60's vintage units common to slant 6 stock applications. While disasembling the rear carb for cleaning, i was suprised to have two check balls fall into my hand when i inverted the float bowl. I know one goes under the accelorator pump, I am guessing the other goes into the casting under where the float hinge locates. I say guessing because when I disasembled the 2nd carb, it only had one check ball and it is captured by a brass fitting in the accelorator pump chamber. I have a picture, but don't know how to post it here. If any of your are intimately familiar with the BBS 3512 s carb, please respond here or to my email. Thanks. I believe the large one goes under the accelerator pump plunger and the small one goes in the pump discharge hole which is adjacent to the carb bore. Sometimes the latter sticks in it's spot, so check your second carb and make sure it's not just frozen in place. I'm not a BBS expert, but they are very similar to a BBD which I know fairly well.

You say discharge hole, wouldn't it get pushed out, and into the engine by the jet of gas??? Is there a way to post pictures to this site?

The other ball goes to that lower place You have marked in your pic (under the accelorator pump) and other goes to that hole which is lowest left in your pic.

Just wanted to let you guys know E-bay has a neat little 63 Dart Convertable listed. It has a 4bbl and tubular headers. Suffered a slight engine fire, but I'm sure you folks could deal with that.
