Good news Mike. Glad you will be there. We will see how many Ferds the Slant Sixes can put back on their trailers!

I just spoke to Lou, and they had 6 cars last night. Final came down to Rodney Hargis and Meril Bruner. The win went to Rodney.

They have 8 cars there this morning and hopefully 1 more on the way.

We had 10 cars today. Gary Bruner took the win over Meril Bruner. Had plenty of good food provided by Bruners and Hamby. There were some good pairings today, full report to follow soon.

Friday night we had 7 cars qualify.

Rodney Hargis showed up just in time to make a qualifying pass, and ended up winning the whole thing!

First Round pairings were:
(W) Rodney v. Lou Madsen
(W) Brian v. Ron Hamby
(W) Meril Bruner v. Gary Bruner
(W) Lukas Bruner got the Bye run

Gary thought he had spun a bearing on his last qualifying run, and didn't make the call. Ron had a rare redlight, and gave it away to Brian. Rodney got by Lou with a better reaction time.

Second Round pairings:
(W)Rodney v. Brian
(W)Meril v. Lukas

Rodney again had the better reaction time, and Brian broke-out. Meril and Lukas had similar reactions, but Lukas broke-out trying to stay in front.

Final:
(W) Rodney v. Meril

They both had similar reactions, but Meril was three tenths off of his dial-in.

Saturday results:

Gary ended up winning it all after discovering he did not spin a bearing, but had a pushrod hitting the valve cover.

First round:
(W) Lukas v Brian
(W) Mark Charapich v Mike Andreas
(W) Lou v Rodney
(W) Gary v Sam Daugherty
(W) Meril v Ron

Lukas used a better reaction time and dial-in to beat Brian. Mark and Mike were both 4speed cars and running within .18 seconds dial-ins. Mike spun his tires on the line, and ended up breaking out running Mark down. Lou got his revenge on Rodney by beating him on reaction time, and forcing Rodney to break out chasing him. Sam broke out staying in front of Gary. Meril got a free pass when Ron blew a head gasket on his last qualifying pass.

Second round:
(W) Lukas v Lou
(W) Meril v Mark
(W) Gary got the Bye

Both Lukas and Lou went red, but Lou did it first. Would have been a close race; Lukas went 15.609 on a 15.60 dial, and Lou went 16.979 on a 16.96 dial!! Mark also lit the red light against Meril, but Meril would have been hard to beat going 14.856 on a 14.85 dial.

Semis:
(W) Gary v Lukas
(W) Meril got the Bye

Gary and Lukas both broke-out, but Lukas did it more than Gary.

Final:
(W) Gary v Meril

In one of the more embarrassing moments of the weekend, Meril could not get his car to do a burnout and was pushed back. Gary got the easy win, but made a statement doing it. Gary had a perfect light, with a .000 reaction and went 12.898 on a 12.90 dial-in!!! After the race, Meril lifted his hood and discovered he had left his carb cover on during the rain delay.

Once again the Bruners and the Hambys provided great food and drinks for everyone! We had a lengthy rain delay between the semis and the final, but everyone used it to bench race. It was good to see some new faces, and hope to see them back again.

Thanks to all the racers for coming out!!!

Brian

Great write-up Brian! Thanks! :D

The Championship thread is updated.

Next up on the East Coast is Clay City... The coordinator for that race had better get it in gear!

Thanks very much, Brian, and everyone else who made Bristol a very fun race. Thanks for updating, Rob!

I'm bummed to miss the last 2 races in the East this year, but will be back in force next year with faster and cooler cars...

Lou
