Who is butchering old Dodge vans? If you are going to cut up a van to make an ugly float, at least cut up a Chevy, and a late model one. Those 60s and 70s era vans are getting rare and Dodge vans should never be subjected to such waste. For shame.

Because he has irreparably damaged and destroyed what are now rare and desirable vehicles, plus he destroyed what would otherwise be perfectly functional and useful vehicles. This is why you can't find many C bodies any more, or slant six powered B bodies that were butcher to make clone big block cars.

I have never approved of pointless waste. Whether it be demolition derbies or "art cars", I don't like it when someone takes an otherwise perfectly fine vehicle and turns it into a piece of junk. Honestly, what happened to those vans after they were used for the one purpose they were built? Scrapped. What is the point? Build something from scratch if you are just going to junk it.

A shameful waste of a good A100 van to do that today, but back when his F-I-L did it, there was most likely one in about every salvage yard in his area.

Art cars aren't my personal forte, but it's good that you folks kept it running.

Don't let the nay-sayers get you down.

yea everyone has their own opinion and to each his own. I think he got it for dirt cheap and actually did it a favor by cutting it up. He never had NICE vehicles to begin with so I'm sure it was a cost effective improvement. It still runs and he uses it for tree work every week. And if you didn't read correctly REED, it is still in use.

Mea culpa, I did isa your post where you said it was still in use. That being said, I still don't like seeing things like this. Maybe it is just because I like vans, but I see projects like these as destroying the pool of old vehicle and parts for old vehicles available to everyone.

Like you say, to each their own. Personally, I would never do that.

"The beauty of art is in the eye of the beholder".
The question then becomes, "Do I prefer un-touched industrial/automotive 'art', or something else flamin' weird?"
Someone's answer may be be tainted by quantities of alcohol or drugs, or..... a lack thereof.
