I hope this isn't a really common questions here, I couldn't find any threads that answered my question. I noticed my car leaking oil pretty bad about a month ago so I put it up and inspecting it to find that the front of the oil pan gasket is really worn out, looks like in some areas it's even completely missing. The bolts were loose.

I tightened them up, cleaned the area and applied RTV in every location I could get to. It really slowed the leak down for a week but it's back at pouring oil all over my street.

So I'm wondering how difficult it would be to replace the gasket properly with out having to pull the motor. My 78 Aspen 4 door has a honkin' K member right under the oil pan and I doubt I could remove the pan with out moving the motor at least a bit. A coworker recommended using a 2x4 and a floor jack to lift the motor a bit to get some extra clearance. Not sure how that would work though.

What do you guys think? Is this possible?

I have been under that car, its a bit crowded. You're gonna have to lift the motor high enough to put wood blocks under the motor mounts. Or you could remove the driveshaft and disconnect the trans and push it back.

I just did this on my 340 car. I had to unbolt the motor mounts, lift with block of wood under the oil pan, and then place wedges between the motor mounts and the k-frame. I also had to disconnect the steering, so I replaced the steering components at the same time: swapped for the bigger tie rods- a direct fit item, new pitman and idler arms.
