I put a chrome mr gasket 318 dipstick and tube on some time ago in my 80 Aspen to just fix my oil leak/crack at the base of the original (dual header and 4bbl couldn't bolt to anything so it cracked from vibration) but never got around to measuring and lost the oem one.Can someone who has done this on there /6 get a total measurement and how far up you made the safe and full marks...I know that the 318 one has to be longer or I'm just over 2" over full on oil

Just mark your stick when you do your next oil change.

Step 1: Change the oil & filter, add 4 quarts and run the engine to fill the filter.
Step 2: Let the oil settle, check the level & mark the "ADD" level onto the stick.
Step 3: Add 1 more quart, let settle, mark the "FULL" level on the stick.
This method insures accuracy.
