Hi,,

I have a 66 VC Valiant with the 225, the starter motor was the bosch style starter. The solenoid was broken and I opted for a new replacement.

I purchased this: http://www.pentastarparts.com.au/store/ ... ail&p=5329 based upon recommendation from the company, they specifically said it would suit my engine.

However it has 10 teeth, the bosch unit only has 9 - I'm right in saying that this doesn't match up?

Is there a suitable Mini starter with the 9 tooth gear?

Cheers

Incase anyone hits a similar problem, the starter motor I showed is only suitable to replace motors with the "Chrysler" type starter.

I was able to send this back and was exchanged for a different 1.9 Hp mini starter which suits, supposedly this model typically fits the Hemi 6 engine.

Pentarstarparts for the most part have been able to provide me with everything I have needed as well as a lot of knowledge. WIll happily continue shopping there.

Correct, the US has a similar problem for people that have the early direct drive starter in cars and 60's-70's trucks with the slant six and 11" clutch, these also used the 9 tooth gear. Domestically for us the only option we have at this time is to swap the gear off the ministarter with a 9 tooth unit...or talk to Rob McNabb Starters and get one of their units with the gear for "the early hemi" (this option runs about $350...)
