I recently saw external mirrors on a 61 Valiant that flashed when either left or right indicator was selected.

Each mirror had a label that said "World Famous Flash Mirror for the Right (or Left) Fender".

Any detail on where I could buy these would be appreciated.

…and now I've seen 'em in this auction on the Swedish equivalent of eBay, I'm sticking with my original guess. The label says "patent pending US/Japan", which reads to me like these oldies were made back when "Made in Japan" meant what "Made in China" means now. The auction ended with no bidders at 249 SEK (just under USD $30). Open the page in Google Chrome for an automatic translation into English. These look like they'd sit on a more or less horizontal surface, which would work fine for a '63-up A-body, but on a '60-'62 would mean you'd have to mount them far forward on the fenders, not on the doors. Mirrors mounted way forward on the fenders are useless for actually seeing anything relevant in traffic.

If the object is to have side turn signal repeaters on an old car, there are other ways to do it without spoiling the vintage look of the car…

Perfect placement if in fact these mirrors are Japanese manufacture of old. Old footage of Japanese traffic reveal all external mirrors appear to be mounted forward of windshield on top of front fenders.

Yup, most sideview mirrors in Japan were mounted on the fenders, more or less above the front wheels. Useless unless the mirror was very large and convex (most were small and flat), but that was the regulation there for quite a few years.

These are the mirrors I saw on a 61 Valiant (they had the same pat/pending label) but they looked more like the twin post Mopar mirrors.

Is it possible there are other 'styles' for this mirror?

I get a lot of junk mail, one was a vintage catalog car parts. They had all kinds of oldy style mirrors with LED turn signals in it. I'll see if I can find it and maybe they have a similar style in it.
