I blew it and torqued down my valvetrain with 1 pushrod not seated in the lifter, bent it pretty good. I was able to pound it straight with just a ripple of a tweak. Can I run it or is that an absolute no-no? Does anyone got a spare mechanical pushrod they want to donate?

Roll it across a piece of glass to see how straight it is. If you have a stock cam and springs you can probably run it for quite awhile.

If you have heavier springs, it's probably going to bend again shortly. :D

I straightened it, rolled it and it just has a little wave in it. I bought a new one from Rockauto, 4 bucks. Needed a rubber valve cover gasket anyway.

Late the conversation, but I have two comments:

1. When I was a kid, my Dad straightened out a push rod and reused it with no issues in his Ford 300 cu. in. I6.

2. I would never straighten out a push rod and reuse it.

Glad to hear you succumbed to logic, unlike my Dad.

In a motor that turns rpm or has a lot of valve spring I wouldn't either. But on a stock Slant or a tractor motor I've done it many times.

I saw Floater Wasson pound 15 of his straight on a 9 second Super Gas BBC Nova and run it the rest of the weekend.😃
