When I work on the HEI Module Wiring this weekend, I plan to work on the wire from the module to the distributor.

What is the recommended size of wire for this?

It looks like 14 or 16 gauge wire. I was thinking 12 gauge would be a little better but I am not sure.

Also, I cut off the factory flat wire connector end (like an idiot) because I didn't have a matching end. Well I found that matching end, but it is still cut off. So I was thinking about using two separate male/female connectors for each wire to make it easier if I ever have to pull the motor. Any suggestions for the best way to do this?

Thanks, Craig

14 or 16 is way excessive for distributor to module. This is a very low current path. 18 is more then enough. Truth be told even 18 is overkill but once you get that thin you start sacrificing mechanical strength.

Any male/female connectors will work really. If you want to restore the original connector you can buy a 2 pin trailer wiring harness at any autoparts store like this. Cut it in half - one end you solder back onto the distributor. Other end can mate with distributor and leads to module

Thanks for the input Pierre. I may just restore that connection like you suggest.

It is good to know that the smaller wire will work fine.

Thanks, Craig
