Hey guys
I just got back my super 6 intake that I had powdercaoted. It looks great. But it has some differences from the 1969 factory intake I have. First of all it has 2 threaded holes in the last runner. I assume that's for vaacum. My car has no vaavum lines on it's intake so I was wondering if I could close the holes off with some bolts and a rubber washer/seal?? And at the end of the intake there are studs on the opposite side of the runners. Nothing bolts to my factory one so I have no idea what goes there but there is a hole in the bottom of the intake that leads out and something needs to go there. Thanks for any help

They should be pipe thread holes. Just get a proper size plug and put some teflon tape on it.
It sounds like you are describing where the EGR valve would go. If you don't need the EGR valve you can bolt a plate over the hole.

Do you think I should put something like a gasket maker on the plate. And can that be made with just sheet metal?

I would make it out of plate, heavier than sheet metal.... and put a gasket on it. I may have some gaskets

These EGR valve gaskets can be had from Rockauto.com for 20 cents. I really do think, you can chop off the egr valve and weld the top and bottom shut and grind (or sand) as as needed to smooth the base out. I would make it out of plate, heavier than sheet metal.... and put a gasket on it. I may have some gaskets
No need to make a new base if you already got one! It's already got the threaded holes and most of the work is already done...why make it more complicated?

Ditto what Rick said on the holes. I put two pipe plugs with teflon tape in mine.

On the EGR, I bought a plate from ebay, but you could make one.

I bought the ebay plate as well. Mine even came with a gasket. You definitely need to use some sort of plate with a gasket or you will have an exhaust leak (assuming you are using a stock exhaust manifold).
I think the plate I got was only about $12.

Cool, spend a lot of wasted money you don't have to if only you owned a welder (MIG). Welding is a very simple process, I learned it within 4 weeks from a roommate who went to school for it 6 years and for me from a few books in a few months, I can't see how anyone would spend more than 6 months on it. ig welding is an extremely simple process.
