I have a stock daily driver '66 225 that I need to replace the carb. I have a choice of two carbs and intakes to use.

One carb is a weber 32/36 can this carb run on a 4 bl intake? I can make an adaptor for it.

If I can get the stock linkage to work would I need to change the kickdown linkage?

Would it be better to run the 32/36 on the 1 bl intake?

The other a Holley 4bl dbl pump 340cfm (#7410) mech. secd. I don't know much about this carb, it need rebuilding. Would the mech. secd. cause problems with the auto trans?

Thanks for the help.
Steve

Blargh. Why are we talking about 4bbl carbs on "stock" 225s? 4bbls do not come stock on 225s, and are generally a poor idea for daily drivers.

Thanks for your reply.
I'm new to this and low on money, but want to keep the car running.
I used the word stock to state that it has no proformance parts.
I'm finding parts on the engine that are stamped made in china on it.
The carter 1bl body is cracked, and need to replace it for the car to run.
A friend offered a 4bl intake and the carbs 32/36 weber or the 4 bl holley.
From your post the 4bl is out.

Would putting a 2 bl carb on a 4 bl intake create problems in how the carb preformed?

Or would it be better to put the 2 bl carb on the 1 bl intake?

Thanks for any input
Steve

FIND ANOTHER 1 BBL, EITHER IN A LOCAL SALVAGE OR E-BAY, REBUILD IT A DRIVE YOUR CAR. THEN READ THE ARTICLES ON THIS WEB-SITE & MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION ON MODIFING YOUR RIDE. CHENGING TO A 2 BBL OR 4BBL WILL CAUSE LINKAGE/DRIVABILITY PROBLEMS UNLESS YOU FOLLOW A GOOD PLAN. GOOD LUCK!!

A 4v manifold can be used on your /6. The webber carb will work on that manifold with an adapter. The 390 holley with mechanical secondaries is not a good choice. A 390 with vaccum secondaries would not be much more differant then the Webber. All of this carbs will require modifications to the throttle linkage and kick-down linkage.
