Hi everyone - hoping there's a simple answer to this one!

Last night while getting my /6 tuned up, I noticed fuel leaking out of the carb when I shut it off. I have a horizontally mounted Carter so the fuel was leaking out the throat, where the intake filter housing mounts to the carb itself. In a normal top mounted carb I'm not sure you would catch this as the fuel would just leak into the throttle body. Any thoughts as to why this would be the case? I suspect the float is set too high but pretty sure someone here knows the exact answer!

FWIW - I ran the engine a few more minutes to burn off the excess fuel, and after turning it off the 2nd time, there was no leakage.

It sounds like a float issue to me too. You can get it rebuilt at Specialty Carburetors Inc. in Toronto. I had a similar issue with the updraft carburetor on my Ford 3500 tractor, which was a result of a rusty gas tank.
