Getting ready to order four wheel disk brake upgrade, large bolt pattern, and 15 inch wheels to better accommodate newer brake hardware.

Currently running 14" Rallye Wheels that are out of round with 205/70 -14 tires mounted; no rub with these.

Will 15"x8" - 4 5/8" back set fit rub free on front? If not how about 15"x7" - 4 5/8"?

15X7 with that backspace should work very well. 15X8s will be tight or need more offset and then you might run the wheel into the tie rod. If you are not trying to autoX or roadcourse it or go for max handling, then 15X7 works very well with a 225/50-15 or 215/60-15 or so. I am not up on tire availability in 15" sizes these days. 225/50-16 is also really good on ~ 2000 Ranger/Explorer/Mustang 16X7.5 wheels and those are pretty common in junkyards or online. 16" tires are much more common these days for variety of tires (esp performance tires). Backspace is about 5" on those wheels, which is about perfect. Need to open up the centering hole by about 0.060" with a drum sander and drill. Happy to discuss more...

Lou

I ended up with 15" x 7" Rallye Wheels shod with 235/60 R15 Cooper Cobra GT M&S tires. Rear tires fit well, Front right tire fit well, right front not so well. For some unknown reason wheel base form side to side differs by 1 1/4" I can't figure out why, and the right side seems as if the wheel is forward in its well. Forward enough that the new tire rim combo contacted the lower front of wheel well opening. Previous wheel tire combo was 205/70 R14 on 14 inch Rallye Wheels.

My solution was to cut a 3/4"x 4" pie shaped chunk from the area contacting tire, and weld back together as if nothing had been modified. It looks untouched, and no rubbing since the repair.

This can always help with these calculations and comparisons.
