Since I R and R the PB master cyl and finish with a complete brake job I've had this vacuum hiss down at the pedal. I was told that I need to adjust the rod. To do that do I have to remove the shroud thats bolted to the fire wall and under the dash. Its a mother to see everything and the humidity is about to kill me . lol Then the heat of the light doesn't help either. This is on a 1979 Volare.

I used the search engine and found out its done by unbolting the MC. Do I just run the ball in . I grab the rod with vice grips and put a 3/8 on the ball but its not moving. Please help.

If you hear hissing it's highly likely the booster diaphragm is ruptured. Adjusting the pushrod-to-master cylinder clearance will not fix this.

I rev up the engine and you can see the brake pedal move. I adjusted it some but it still has this issue. What the consensus???

I just bumped a thread on rebuilt boosters. There's a link in it with instructions for adjusting.

Mine is an aftermarket unit, but I can adjust the rod from under the dash, no need to remove the unit from the firewall.
