A buddy of mine turned me on to the manifold heaters from a Toyota22r that sets right under the carb via hole in the bottom of the intake(the heater is actually exposed to the a/f mixture) and requireres that a 2 1/8 in. hole be cut on either side of the plenum divider on a H-P and is a one wire hookup.
After I get my manifold back from having the plenum welded in ,Im gonna tke measurments and see if these will physically work and if they will then I will figure out how to control them(any suggestions from anyone will be greatly appreciated).Im thinking that it would be a plus to be able to completely disable them and also control the amount of voltage to them.
These heaters are only dealer or yard items.....but there were a ton of 22r engines made and within 2 hours of being told about them I had aquired 4(one from my buddy who told me about them and three from a mechanic at work who deals with toyota engines alot...all for free...and all of them work).
My buddy told me that they rarely if ever go bad so finding them cheap and working in the boneyards should be no problem.
Using these heaters would also eliminate the "unique" exaust routing I was thinking of to put a little heat in my H-P.
So DI ,what do you think?Is this workable or a waste of time?Any one else is welcome to chime in on this also.

I'd have to see one to get an idea/visual of how it would work on our manifold. I deign to cut anymore holes in my intake though, the casting material is so 'crappy' that even when you have yours welded up I'd suggest having it powder coated or epoxy paint it like I did to keep the porosity in the newly welded seam from causing a phantom vacuum leak...

You might end up being the 'pioneer' for this one. So far my small exhaust box seems to be going well even during our warm muggy weather. When I go to fuel injection, I think I'll not need the heaterbox, and go for a 'warm air' thermactor setup for those cold days...
