Signed up for something new tonight. The Friday on race weekend they are having a 'Blind Squirrel' race. 16 cars, $50 to enter, no time runs, no buybacks, and no time cards, win light only. $700 to win. Oh yeah, you get 12 minutes from when the last pair clear the return road to get back in staging or you're dq'd.

I was going for T&T anyway, might as well get in on the fun. T&T after the race is over.

Ran the Blind Squirrel tonight. Dialed 8:31 and crossed my fingers. Pulled into the water for the 1st round. Wicked it up, shift light comes on in second, pulled high gear and the shift light comes back on so I know it wants to run. Staged against another freaking S-10 dialed 6:59. We both get in and I mat the gas and it instantly goes on the 4000 chip without a stumble. I let go of the brake and actually get a green light. I have him buried a ton at the big end so I dumped. Got the win light.

Second round I get one of the Super Pro hitters from 66 in a '71 Chevelle dialed 5:60. Another green light, but he nips me at the stripe. Car goes back on the trailer under its own power, so I'm happy.

Back tomorrow morning for the big money race.
