Is the strip that you run at the same one where your dad raced?

Greg, the photos remind me of one of my grandson's favorite animated movies, "Cars". One of the background car characters in the movie was once a competitor loud and proud. With the passing of years he is now more serene, but still has that inner strength and satisfaction of having been a good quality competitor. Today it's this car that reminds me the builder's spirit and depth of character made the car a competitor in it's day. I (we?) get nostalgic seeing the car today, but in that nostalgia I also feel great respect for the person that put in the effort to make it happen in his day. Best wishes to your Dad.

@ John..

Yes he raced at 2 local tracks.. one is shopping complex or abandoned now.... the other has been in operation since 1968.

@ Louise76... Thanks.. It is kind of neat to see old stuff like that.. My dad has plenty... Lots of stuff he bought or was interested in for 5-10 years at a time when he was 19-65 years old...
Now he doesn't have much interest in that stuff.

Greg

I had Mondello make a head in the early 70s. He was thought to be state of the art then. I sent him the valves and he started with a new head, I think the whole thing only cost $300. I went low 12s with it in a very light car.

Greg, any idea what bellhousin-flywheel-clutch package is in the car?

DadTruck, when I spoke to Greg's Dad he told me he ran a Weber pressure plate. I don't think he mentioned the flywheel but I would guess a stock unit. Here is what was in the car from one of the pictures.

There are a few Drawers at the garage at home with various pressure plates and clutch discs. Although I am sure at one time he used Weber Parts, I have no idea what is in there now(when the car was retired in 1972).

I doubt he had some sort of trick lightweight weber or other flywheel. Probably a stock unit.
Bell housing would have been / is the Stock 1964 Cast Iron Slant 6 / a833 4 speed Bell housing.

No, I am sure it will sit for many more years. It's not mine, but my Dad's. Ran in 1972.

Not sure on webers, but my guess is DCOE 45.

Such a cool car....hope it gets fixed up to the point that it is a runner someday....I'd like to see that car in action. Are there any specs on the Mondello head?
