Here is a small project that I have been slowly working on:

1962 Valiant Parts car,

I got the Front taken off, Spot welds cut etc... then I thought this might make a nice trailer, so Here it is.

It's not totally done, but the major bits are complete and most of the wiring and paint is done now.

Now I need to get a hitch installed on one of my slant 6 Cars to pull it.

What a great idea!
With all the stuff you get done, do you ever sleep?

Thanks Mark, I may be hauling this monstrosity out your way to pick up parts.

Yes I get sleep.

I have a great family who lets me play with cars.
I also did an oil change on Mom's '96 XJ Jeep yesterday.
Swapped out to the big car trailer in the service bay to get some fussy brake wiring Sorted.

Ya got to stay busy or.....

It will be nice to pull the ValinaTrailer with this Someday:

Hats off to you, my friend.

I've seen a DJ around here that had a 57 Chevy that did similar, a guy on a forum that I used to frequent made a matching trailer to his 94 ish Dakota, and (so far an abomination) a guy in town with a 68 country squire wagon attempting to do the same with a matching wagon.
I haven't seen the 57 in probably 10 years at least but that one was well done. The back half of the 2nd 57 was his DJ stand.

@ Matt,

Thanks, Yes I tend to recycle and find some crazy stuff.. In my teens and 20's I was into F Bodies (super cheap at the time) - I Have 3 matching ones of those... Now I am into the '60-62 Valiants (I now have 3 if you count the trailer) -They are smaller lighter, more odd, and just not a lot of examples left of the 10's of thousands built.

@ Don
yes I am sure not the first guy to think of this idea. It's not the prettiest either, but It's do the job.
Nice covered storage vessel, along with a platform for wheels and tires for the autoX and track days.

It is cool having the matching trailer to your car for sure. as long as it is such that you can actually carry enough inside to make it "worth it".

Found a Use for all those Pesky OE 13" x 4 1/2" Wheels:

They work perfect for trailers that are using small bolt pattern such as the ValianTrailer. Cleaned them up, put some paint on them to match the roof.

Buffing supplies are on the way to clean up 2 of the OE '62 UFO Valiant hubcaps than I will toss them on the trailer as well.

- A few more to-do's:
- Paint the Orange Panel that filled in between the front folded down Roof and the floor... Bought Some more white paint for that.
- Make a Block off for the fuel filler - Weld it all up and Paint it Blue and this trailer will be done.

Some Photos:
Pesky 13x4 1/2's came in handy on this project... Mouted up some Fresh ST 175 80 13's along with new valve stems.

Lightened up the Rotating assembly and removed the backing plates and brakes.

The Wheels help it to look somewhat completed.

Also Got some "Heavy Haulin'" Bits installed:

Now I Can Tie stuff down and not have to worry that it will go flying around on the corners.

Hangin' out with the other '62:

Wal*Mart Had them in 2 flavors small and lite or big and heavy. Good parts. I am sure you can find them online as well!

Here it was the Day I Brought it Home in August 2021..  The Car was all there , but it was bad.  I bought it for just parts or so I thought.

Sold off or Cut off What I did not need:

Broke out the spotweld Cutter and Surgically Removed  / Kept / Stored the panels that only a certified MoPar Nut Like me would ever want or need...

Image

Rusty Floors and Rails Said "No Bueno" for anything other than parts..

Image

Even the Mighty Slant 6 Was Junk - Locked and Loaded full of rainwater. :-(

Image

Sold off the Usable Rails And Halfway Decent Front Bench seat.

Image

Image

Gave the Front Doors To a friend of mine that Races a '62 Valiant..

Image

The OE Heater Valve may live on in another one of my other valiants some day.. after it gets cleaned up.

During Construction:

Had to use the Trailer again for a family outing - I was the "grillemaster" Brought the Propane Grille from home to the County park for a surprise 70th birthday party for the family.

Went home a different route through Downtown Pittsburgh.. Was waiting at a light to get into one of the local tunnels.. Lots of Honks and Thumbs up from random humans sharing the traffic experience with me.

Will be hauling with it later this summer to pick up an engine.

Trailering with 60 year old semi self built Junk has it's giggle factor..

This week's escapades took us to a Nice Regional MoPar Show - About ~350 Miles Round Trip.

Was Loaded up for Parts Vending
Image
Image
The copilot approved of this trip 'cause there was a carousel and a good playground at the fairground where the show was located.

Very cool trips, Greg and Ava! Glad to see you are enjoying the drives.

Victoria and I got out in the 68 Dart this weekend. Driving down to the river/rapids for swimming was the highlight. Maybe you two can join us sometime.
