I ended up having to redesign the switch bracket. The first attempt forced the shifter too far back.
This one is simpler and a bit more elegant.

I'm finally to the point of calibrating all the sensors for the Megasquirt.
AFR, coolant temperature, intake temperature, crank position, throttle position, manifold pressure, barometric pressure, oil pressure, fuel pressure.
All calibrated.

My quick and dirty injector test stand is rigged up. I just have to put gas in the tank and it's ready for the first test.

Testing done, data gathered, numbers crunched.

I got the first start today. It fired right up and idled just like it's supposed to.

Then I dicked around with it trying to raise the idle to be more friendly with the new cam.
Until I fouled all the spark plugs...

Still, that's great progress. I have an issue that the wideband isn't sending good data. It's just stuck on 10.3. Hopefully that's just a ground or wiring connection problem.

I found the problem with getting wideband data. One of the pins had pushed out of a connector at the ECU. Easy fix and now I'm getting good AFR data.

I temporarily tweaked the settings on the idle control to let it idle high for cam break-in. While it was doing that I practiced editing the VE table in the high idle area just to see the effect. It's really easy to make 0.1 adjustments to the AFR. So far it seems the Megasquirt generated VE table isn't far off.

I've got some more testing to do before running it again. I didn't finish setting up the fan control so I need to do that. Once the cam has had it's allotted amount of running in I can start tuning the idle for real

It runs and drives. I took it down the street to the gas station and put some 92 in it.
A few teething problems need to be addressed but soon I will start tuning.

Fantastic! Congratulations. Love the mellow sound and tappity tap taps. Bet that feels really good...

Thanks Lou!
Yeah, it feels pretty good. Seemed like I was never going to get to the point where it would move under it's own power.
And...It will be so nice to just drive it out of the shop instead of having to push it when something else needs to come in.

I popped the 5v reference voltage fuse trying to get the fuel gauge calibrated. No big deal, but the Megasquirt case has to be opened up to replace the fuse.
While I was preparing to do that the needle nose pliers slipped out of my hand and fell tips first on to the circuit board. That obliterated a surface mount resistor and capacitor. C123 and R274

Took a week for the replacement SMDs to show up. Soldering these in place was quite a challenge but it's all fixed now and the truck runs again.

Thanks Slantzilla!

I got it out for a few miles of testing and tuning. Letting the Megasquirt 'Autotune' program slowly dial in the VE table.
I had to run out to the truck scales to see where it is at in the weight department. - 2540 pounds. I was hoping for lighter but I think that's not too bad.
At least the weight is distributed much better.

Super cool. It is 2540 with you and a full tank, or no driver, or? That is a bit heavier than I was expecting too, but not bad at all. It should be very nimble. What was F/R distribution?

Cheers,
Lou
