Car Model: 62 lancer
So is there something I should look for when tail light stays on when car is off. Pulling out light switche and pushing in for off usually makes light go off. Something i to look for. .

The dome light for my 62 lancer is different. Why a double contact. Is this car supposed to have a separate oem map light?

Sounds like your headlight switch has a sticky contact in it. Best add that to your shopping and to-do lists, along with your turn signal switch.

Different to…what?

One for feed, one for ground – this type of bulb does not ground via the base shell. The feed is live full time. The door switches and the headlight switch detent when you rotate the knob all the way anticlockwise complete the ground path so the dome light will illuminate.

There was a (useless) "map light" available as a dealer-installed accessory. I've never been able to figure out how dim lighting in the footwell helps anyone read a map. Maybe things worked differently in 1962.

Ooh..

Imagine a fully tricked-out '62 Signet or V-200 with a map light, optional reverse lights, brake warning light as well as the not factory available, 4-way hazard flashers, trunk light, fender-mounted turn signals, and fuel pacer indicator. Now that would be something.

Sorry for my incoherent rambling, now back to Dan helping you out with your concerns.
