Get a length of hose and a gas can next to the fender, run hose in that can to fuel pump to initially get it running. That way you'll know everything it "eats" is fresh gas. How much do you think is in the tank? (Old gas)

Okay, I just came back from the storage space where the Volare is, and I removed each of the spark plugs one by one, and squirted some oil in the hole. I did 'em one at a time, to avoid getting wires hooked up wrong.
So, I might crank her over tomorrow, we'll see.

That's quite a road trip Don!

Ok, so how long should I crank the engine over before I try to actually start it?

Ok, I just got back from the storage space.

I hooked up the battery and removed the coil wire.
And I put a little gas in the tank.

I turned the key, and it sounded pretty normal, I guess. Nothing too out of the ordinary as far as I could tell.

After a few minutes I reinstalled the coil wire, and turned the key again. It did not start, I guess since I drained all the old gas it takes a while for the new gas to get to the carb.

So, I unhooked the battery, and I'll look at it again next weekend.

When dealing with a carb that has an empty float bowl, if possible, I like to fill the float bowl with gas through the bowl vent tube before I run down the battery trying to crank gas up to the carb. My slant six powered truck sits for long periods of time so I have gotten quite good at this exercise.
