First off, I'm glad you're happy with your alt swap, stinky, that's all that's important. And it was good of you to share :)

Me, I'm happy with the $20 Nippon-Denso unit I have installed on my Duster ($15 junkyard deal + a $5 pulley from the alternator shop). Small, lightweight, 90 amps, and bolted on with only very minimal modification and because that particular jap part is "Mopar certified", my setup is "all" Mopar ;)

...don't anyone ask me about my Cadillac powered Dodge Camper Special!

Can we add "Internal Regulator vs External" to the same Great Controversy pile as "Ammeter vs Voltmeter" and "Poly vs Rubber"? I think it has potential!
:D

Hey stinky-- Happy New Year! I've been followin this post and I MAY have overlooked something but I don't see where someone slammed you about whatever, but whatever. I know that ther are alot of purist in the Mopar world and if ya ever use the words GM or Furd in the parts or car world, its like feeding Alcohol to a Indian, hope I didn't piss off any Native Americans with that, but you catch my drift. I've had 9 cars in my lifetime and since I bought my /6, it the 1st ride that has ever had a battery and/or charging problems that are finally fixed. I look at it this way, who cares if its a Gm or Ford part, as long as its American made is a good thing.
NOW, if only I could find a American made mini starter than this Nippledensehead unit that Chrysler made, life WOULD be good! But thats a different story.

The japs are good at condensing stuff into a small, tight, well-made package, there's no denying that. ...and there is a place for that. I personally like old (pre-'72) American cars. I abhor late model vehicles of any kind.... All plasticky, no personality.

yes indeed
although my parents have an 86? caravan, indestructble. and cool "wood" stripe. seriously i forget around here its exceptable to mix and match. (my friend's hemi powered camaro). when i lived back east this would have been trouble but then again i probably would'nt have found a 69 dart.
