My dear Eric... you bet I am a cheap guy too!!!, I will follow your advise... I just got a local quote for a Nippondenso starter here and it costs $1,600.00 pesos (around $145.00 dollars... they are nuts :x ), on eBay the same ministarter guaranteed to be "plug and play" for any automatic slant six starts off at $65.00 dollars (nice) :) . There are other options there between $60.00 and $90.00 bucks. But if I can save more on the starter by following your advice... I'm there.

Thanks,

Ed

I have the regular Melling Oil Pump. I have 65psi all the time. When i crank it in the morning, takes about 1-2 seconds before it hits full pressure.

Ole Blue, we all started out the same way, as long as you do what the motor needs and get to the efficient peak of the motor, thats all that matters. I strarted off slow like you. It had a 1bbl, then I moved to a 2bbl 500 Holley, then to a 4bbl 390 holley, now to a 500cfm Edelbrock. As long you go in steps and not bolt on wild things (i.e. nos, 4bbl) to a stock slant, you are on the right track, It has taken me 6 years to come this far. Now im taking her to Mopars at the strip in April to represent the Slants and run the 1/4...She has never touched a 1/4 mile track. Then back to LA for Spring Fling the following weekend.

Pete
