My Son, Aric and I were fortunate enough to win the Las Vegas "Mopars at the Strip" race this past week. Aric does the driving and I "attempt" to keep the car running. We are first time racers and couldn't have made the trip or kept the car running consistently if it hadn't been for much needed tuning and technical advise from Mike, Doug, Rick, Dennis. We also have to thank the class sponsor, Fastway Automotive for their financial contribution and the first time racer $$ via Doug/Bob. Yes Dennis, the "hook is set". For the remainder of this year, Aric will get some "seat time" and next year we will have Mikes' engine in to go a little faster. The existing motor a mild street motor but the car has been lightened and set up anticipating MIkes new motor this winter. We competed in Redding this past weekend and had 12 cars which included some Chevy inliners and one flathead racer. I should have left the jetting which was consistent in Las Vegas alone. I went two jet sizes richer for REdding thinking the almost sea level of Redding would require more fuel than the adjusted altitude of over 3000' at VEgas. WRONG MOVE...After running 15.11 at Redding, we were out the first round with a "blubbering" launch with a great .08 light. Not the fault of the son, but the father. I sure learned a lot though. Mike ran a high 11 second run and his car was now void of the front end problems of Las Vegas. Doug again was in the finals with his 'Dacuda'. Great to have 12 cars in one class and hope all you "bench racers" get your cars finished before Vegas next year. Just talked to Mike who had a long drive back to Nebraska from Redding. You might want to find out what happened in the final race between Mike and the flathead racer. Dave Mueller was there in his fast now injected station wagon and rumor has it, he wants to go faster and is building a new car with Morrison tube frame. We hope Dave will have it finished for Vegas next year. His crew chief/sponsor Tim assures me that they will be there. Don't forget to ask Mike about his race...Wayne and Aric Erickson

Thanks Wayne.

For first time racers you two came in with a bang!

Aric is going to be a great racer from the looks of things.

It's great to have you two as part of the Slanted Family.
