Hi all, I recently had a post about an aussie 62, with a non-stock slant in it...
I was desperately trying to find the engine # so it can be registered, but i had no luck.

I've just recently discovered a stamped # on the front of the block, hidden behind the heater hose/thermostat bypass hose.

The # is:

LVE8D
9178

(Printed in that formation on the block, in two rows.)

I suppose if that is an engine #, then it can be deciphered to reveal what year/ type of slant it is....

Any help would be great.

come on! Why can't anyone do this?
This'll be the last time i bump this up to the top of the list, but if people aren't doing this because it's not an engine #, can you please tell me so i can keep looking?

I seroiusly do appreciate _any_ feedback people can give me about this.

Don't know what that number is, but the engine number on my 64 is on the top of the block behind the coil (in front of fuel pump).

Just enough of the block shows after the head is installed to see the numbers (after wire brushing the area) "V 99 99 99" (not really 9's but that's the format)

k, that would be like a 72 model or something? i remember being told to look for a number like that by someone before, it was VF something something.

If u want to decipher the number of your engine to find what it is, and it's from the year i think it is, check out my post on my engine that i made previously, it's in the engine section called "engine number location" or something like that.

I wouldn't think engines codes are the same here as in the Land of Oz.
I don't have a clue!

haha! land of OZ!
Foreigners crack me up when they talk about australia, with it's rampant kangaroos and drop bears!

Anyway, i spose it depends on where the engine was made, it's definitely not stock.

If there are any people out there with experience with aussie slants, any feedback would be great!

Have U tred your friendly nieghborhood dodge/plymouth/chrysler dealer?
They don't like to admit it but most dealerships have parts books that go
waaaay back. "Who can stand in the way, when theres a dollar to be made"!

yeah, that's a possibility i suppose.
The only thing is, chrysler and the like aren't as prominent here as they are in the US. :(
It may not be easy to find a chrysler dealership. I could check out the local club...

I just thought that someone here would know it, it seems that there aren't many questions on this forum that go unanswered.

If anyone would like some more info about the engine to help narrow down the search, I can supply. :)

I don't know what dealerships you've been to Ballout. But unless you're covered in oil and look like your about to order a new engine, the last one I went in all but ignored me.

That all depends on the dealership managment. We have a Chrysler dealer, and a Dodge dealer in town. Your expeiance sounds like the Chrys. dealer. The Dodge dealer treats me just fine. Only problem is they don't have the old "books". If it is not in the computer, they can't find the part, unless I supply the part number. The Chevy dealer in town treats me well, (actually found the part number and got me 65 corvair turbo exhaust gaskets), But the other GM dealers are for the birds. I get Toyota parts from a dealer 150 miles away quicker and cheaper then the dealer in town. It's all a matter af customer service. Some have it, some don't.

hmmm, there's probly no point in getting a book if I don't know what year it's from.
Could it possibly be a 78? Cos of the 78 in the number?

Anyway, does any one else out there have an engine # starting with LV?
That would be nice!
