The headlight switch in my '64 Valiant wagon has crapped out. I bought a new one at NAPA, and it's pretty much identical, except that there is an extra terminal on the bottom-rear of the switch. It's not where the harness plugs in.
Does anybody know what this terminal is for?

Do the new switches need an extra ground wire? Could this be something related to another model of MoPar that the switch could be used for?

If it's the terminal I'm thinking of, kind of an extension of part of the metal headlamp switch, then yes, it's an extra ground terminal. You can use it or not, as you see fit.

While you're in there, if you want to have your parking lamps stay on with the headlamps (instead of turning off as they do on most cars made before '68), it's very easy to do. Just run a short jumper between the "P" and "R" terminals on the headlamp switch body, right down at the base of those terminals, then push the connector block onto the switch, on top of your new jumper wire. Quick, easy and clean.
